Negativland Motion Picture Lab founded by Josh Lewis is an artist-run film work space based in Ridgewood, NY. Initiated in response to a rapidly collapsing commercial film industry, Negativland exists to serve those who continue to pursue creative explorations in photo-chemical filmmaking. Their focus is on experimental printing and darkroom processes, collaborative work, open dissemination of technical knowledge, and a continued desire for greater autonomy in the production of finished works on film.

As part of their mission, they offer workflow guidance and engage in creative collaborations with artists and filmmakers. They restore old equipment, build new stuff, and provide public instruction and cheap rental for all items at our facility. They also offer custom processing and film preservation services.
